Detective of the Month Recognized for Forensic Contributions

Staff Report / PSLlocal.org

Detective Jim Jones was named Detective of the Month by the Port St. Lucie Police Department during the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Business Bowl and Breakfast. He was recognized for his significant contributions to the department's computer forensics unit.

Detective Jones has been instrumental in developing the computer forensics lab, which has grown from a single-person operation with limited equipment to a fully staffed lab with three professionals. His work has included handling sensitive cases involving vulnerable victims.

Notably, Detective Jones played a key role in an investigation connected to a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. His efforts led to the discovery of over 30 disturbing images and videos, resulting in a defendant receiving 21 life sentences and an additional 800 years for crimes committed against her two children.
