27J Schools credits builders for school growth funding

27J Schools said it is not leaving the cost of new growth to the district alone, responding to questions about why homebuilders do not pay for added school needs.

The district said local homebuilders have voluntarily contributed more than $20 million since 2001 to the district’s Capital Facility Fee Foundation. 27J Schools said the contributions support the expansion of existing schools or the construction of new schools.

27J Schools said the public/private partnership began as the district started to see massive enrollment growth tied to new residential development, and that 25 years later the foundation still helps bridge the funding gap for new school construction.

The district said the following homebuilders were recognized during a June 10 Board of Education meeting for their continued support of the foundation: D.R. Horton Colorado, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes and Richmond American Homes. 27J Schools also said board directors—past and present—who have served on the foundation were recognized.
