St. Lucie County has set up a pet-friendly shelter for general population evacuation during Hurricane Milton. The shelter is located at Fort Pierce Westwood Academy, situated at 1801 Panther Lane in Fort Pierce. As of October 9, 2024, residents are encouraged to utilize this facility. Updates regarding the hurricane can be watched through St. Lucie County's official channels.
