On Tuesday at approximately 6:20 PM, the St. Lucie County Fire District responded to a fire involving a lithium battery-powered vehicle on a commercial transport trailer near I-95 and Orange Ave. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, which originated from the vehicle’s battery area, preventing damage to the other eight vehicles on the trailer.

To ensure safety, fire crews monitored the temperature of the battery, applying water to keep it within a safe range. A tow company was called to transport the vehicle to a tow yard, where it was monitored overnight by district personnel to mitigate any risk of thermal runaway.
